Just like the littlest hobo, this week sees all the rowers in the Atlantic Ocean Rowing Race back on the road again, and after a few days stuck on sea anchor, getting going once more will be a huge relief. It is a really strange phenomenon that when you are rowing, you long for it to stop – for the pain, discomfort and sheer monotony of it to go away. Then, when you do get even a few hours respite, all you actually want to do is get back on the oars and pull back a few more miles towards the finish line. Likewise, you long for the finish line, but know deep down that the finish line also means the end of the most incredible adventure that will most likely never be repeated, and the start of ‘real life’ (whatever that is) once again.

Gusty winds blew through the Extreme 40 fleet this week, causing the skittish, generally light wind catamarans to do all sorts of things - including going very, very fast, and stopping very, very quickly.  The fleet was racing in Muscat as part of the Asia series, and their antics provided for quite a show.  As you can see in this photo, a small miscalculation on these 40-foot multihulls can mean you're on your ear.
